Welcome to the Tournaments section! This section is one your one stop shop for all information on the tournaments running at the event, also any pre event qualifiers that we run on-line.

Each tournament is listed below, allowing you sign-up, read tournament rules, view your matches and find out all of the results. Each tournament is of a particular tournament type.

BYOC

BYOC is simply “Bring your own Computer” or “Bring your own Console”. This means you must own a BYOC Ticket, and must play the tournament from your own computer/console with your own copy of the game. These are expected to span several days.

TUP

TUP means “Turn Up and Play” and means that we will supply the game, and console/computer for you to play your tournament games in. These will be supplied only for the duration of any tournament matches however. These could also span several days. If you are under the BBFC rated age limit for a TUP tournament game, you must attend as a BYOC participant using your own copy of the game.

PAYG

PAYG means “Pay As You Go” and these tournaments have an entry fee. This entry fee will usually go 100% back into the prize pot. These tournaments often last only 1 day.

F2P

F2P is “Free 2 Play” and these tournaments are designed for people coming on a spectator ticket and wanting to have a try to win something in a quick tournament. These will usually span only a few minutes or hours, and feature fun prizes from exhibitors and/or Multiplay.

Starvoid

Welcome to the Starvoid tournament page!

Play Starvoid on Sunday to have a chance to win a share of £1,000! Currently available for pre-order, this Starvoid is where the player takes the role of a mercenary commander in the outer rims of the galaxy, fighting for control over the rare spaceship fuel Starvoid. On the battlefield, the player has an arsenal of combat droids, vehicles and ingenious abilities ranging from deployable machine gun turrets and minefields to repair nanoids and orbital rocket strikes. Everything is constantly refilled as the commander instantly is allowed to re-enter the battlefield after being eliminated.

During the weekend you have a chance to try the game and practise for this tournament over on our free play area in the exhibition hall, or simply grab your own key from Fileplay! You must be a BYOC attendee to get one of these!

To sign up, speak to the tournament admin in the Starvoid Tournament area (near the stage) on Sunday morning from 10am – Midday. The tournament will start at 13:00 in the Starvoid Tournament area (subject to signup levels!). Make sure you show up on time!

PC - World Cyber Games Qualifiers

Welcome to the World Cyber Games tournament page. Here you can find the details you need to enter the FIFA12, Starcraft 2 and World of Tanks WCG Qualifiers.

Continuing our long partnership with Samsung, Multiplay are pleased to announce that we will be hosting the UK World Cyber Games qualifiers at Insomnia46 in Telford, England. The three games involved will be Starcraft 2, FIFA12 and World of Tanks, all on the PC format. For Starcraft 2 and World of Tanks, win a direct qualification to the World Cyber Games global final in Kunshan, China and for FIFA12, get pre-qualification for the UK Finals day in London at Eurogamer Expo.

PC - World of Tanks

Welcome to the World of Tanks World Cyber Games qualifier tournament page. Find all of the information you will need to take part in the tournament at Insomnia46. The winning team from this tournament wins a trip to Kunshan, China to represent the UK in the WCG Global Finals at the WCG 2012 Game Festival, November 29th-December 2 2012. This tournament is for teams of 7 players.

PC - FIFA12

FIFA12 – UK Pre-qualifier

For FIFA12 things are a little bit different. Each day we will be hosting a pre-qualifier tournament, where you can earn 4 of the 16 slots in the UK finals tournament on Sunday 30th September at Eurogamer. This will not be the last qualifier, but it will be your best chance. With other qualifiers taking place in Samsung brand stores in the UK and last minute qualifiers available during Eurogamer itself (both TBA), but the most places will be available to Insomnia attendees.

Date: Friday August 24th, Saturday August 25th and Sunday August 26th
Time: Midday each day
How to enter: Speak to Dave Witts at the FIFA12 stand at Insomnia46 to register your name before the deadline (midday). Bring your VALID UK passport. Maximum 32 players each day.
Restrictions: You must be a VALID UK passport holder to enter, bring this with you to sign up. You must also have any ticket to Insomnia46. This is a Free to Enter tournament, open to all UK residents with a passport (Passport is a requirement to get the trip to China).

Starcraft 2 supported by Roccat, Samsung and PCWorld

The UK Starcraft scene will be converging once again on the Telford International Centre in England to come and show the world that they are the best SC2 player in the UK. Our tournament is open to all BYOC attendees at Insomnia46, and will feature an awesome minimum prize pool of £3,000. This tournament is now also supported by Roccat! More details about prizes to come soon!

Also – the top UK player (with a UK passport) will qualify for a trip to China to represent the UK at the World Cyber Games Finals in Kunshan, China. See the WCG page for more details!

Shootmania 3v3 Elite

Welcome to the ShootMania Elite tournament page!

Welcome to the hottest brand new game (that isn’t even out yet!) to hit the LAN circuit – ShootMania!

Everyone that attends Insomnia46 will receive a beta key and can have a go in this tournament! Form teams of 3 and devastate your opponents with your shooting accuracy and movement skills, in the Elite gametype that pits 3 vs 1 on each round, but allowing the solo player to be more powerful and have to attack a control point, or just wipe out the opposition. Each player gets their moment of glory and has the chance to face off against the opposing team in a fierce battle of projectiles and instant hit weapons. Want to start training right away? You can get instant access to the full game in beta by pre-ordering the game on the official website. There are 3-players and 5-players bundles available for teams too!

Welcome to the Unreal Tournament 2004 1v1 Tournament Page!

After so much feedback from the UT2004 1v1 showmatch between Multiplay Esports and Tournament Manager “Kharne”, and Graphic Designer & Events Broadcast Production Manager “ShedBOy^” we decided to bring the format back, but for an awesome fun tournament!

Battlefield 3

Battlefield 3 is still one of the most popular games at our LAN. We are hosting a 6v6 infantry tournament at Insomnia46 this time there is a minimum prize pool of £1,000 to compete for. This prize pool will scale higher if more teams enter. Just 16 teams means the prize pool hits £1500. And 32 teams makes the prize pool £3,000!

Minecraft

So after the success of the Minecraft stand at i45, it will be returning at i46, bigger and better with more prizes to be won including an overall prize fund of just over £1000, which for running around and placing some blocks, isn’t bad! Now the prize winning competitions are not just limited to the Creative Competition. Now you can win money in the Parkour, Spleef and Hunger Games with our daily qualifier activities! If you can come back on Monday morning, you can win a share of the cash!

Designed to give teams some competition outside of the prize 6v6 tournament, Highlander pits teams of 9 players against each other, where every player on each team uses a different class. This brings a completely different style of gameplay to the TF2 community, where each player has to shine!

Fighters are returning at Insomnia46! This time we are going HUGE! We expect hundreds of players at this event, we are looking to become one of the biggest fighting game events the nation has seen!

(Xbox) Modern Warfare 3

At Insomnia45 our first MW3 tournament at an I-Series went amazingly, all of the feedback from the teams was really positive, and we want to go even bigger this time! With a minimum prize pool of £3,500 this tournament will bring some incredible talent to the plate.

(Xbox) Battlefield 3

For the first time at Insomnia we present to you the Xbox Battlefield 3 4v4 Squad Rush tournament!

Bringing more tournaments for our Xbox players to enter, the BF3 tournament has a scaling prize pool, and you can win your share of up to £2,000! Open to a maximum of 32 teams, the BF3 tournament is for BYOC attendees only. Make sure you get your tickets, and your team entered!

This tournament will take place starting on Saturday – so you can sign up if you are knocked out of an earlier tournament if you wish and continue the gaming.

Online Tournaments

SC2 Online Qualifiers

Welcome to the Starcraft 2 online qualifiers page.

This tournament will take place over 2 evenings – Wednesday 8th August, and Thursday 9th August 2012. The winning player will win a full BYOC ticket to Insomnia46, to take part in the £3,000 LAN tournament!

This tournament is for a maximum of 128 players, and will be Best of 3 throughout. The grand final will be a Best of 5 for the tickets.

The schedule for this tournament is as follows:

Wednesday 8th August
Confirmations begin at 5pm BST / 6pm CEST. Bracket will be created and signups closed at 6:45pm BST / 7:45pm CEST.
7pm BST / 8pm CEST RO128
8pm BST / 9pm CEST RO64
9pm BST / 10pm CEST RO32
10pm BST / 11pm CEST RO16

Make sure you turn up for your games 5 minutes early! If you are 15 minutes late for any round you will automatically lose your first map. If you are 30 minutes late for your match you will lose 2-0. The first map of each match is chosen on the tournament system (check the brackets for the current map) then the loser picks maps from there onwards, but no map can be repeated.

We have decided to use the WCS maps which were used for the UK finals this year:

Just search for “WCS” when loading a map and you will find these no problem.

2. Make sure you have an account over at Binary Beast!

3. Visit the tournament signup page to sign up. See step 3!

Important! Make sure you enter your battle net name and character code! To find yours, log into the game, and hover over your portrait in the top right corner of the screen, like the following image:

Hover your mouse to find our your character code!

Use the format: Name.333 so your opponents can find you online.

4. Make sure you CONFIRM your place in the tournament 2 hours before the first tournament day!

5. Turn up and play! Any questions on the night ask them in the “Multiplay” or “Multiplayadmin” channels on battlenet.

Welcome to the CSS online qualifiers page.

This tournament will take place throughout July and the top 3 teams will win tickets to Insomnia46. These tickets are full BYOC tickets (including Early Arrival Thursday), with a total value of £535 per team. Total prize value of this online only tournament is £1,605!
