Multiplay has been taking volunteers to gaming events for over 20 years and it’s a fantastic way to give your time and have a great time doing it. Whether you steward, help with stage content or work on the festivals infrastructure you will be joining a team of hundreds, united by a love of gaming.

There are several teams that help to run the event from stewarding to infrastructure. Please refer to the list below to see more details about each team at the event.

  • Green Team – Stewarding and queue management. The Green Team is a great place to start if you are new to volunteering at Insomnia. As the team covers a lot of different areas, it will give you to change to see what the event is all about.
  • Yellow Team – Our tech support team are the customer facing technical wizards of the event. They help set up the power and network that BYOC customers use and work with other teams to ensure the event is set up on time. During the show they man the helpdesk, helping to diagnose customer’s technical issues.
  • Red Team – The Red Team are our tournament administrators. They set up and run the tournaments for our BYOC and day attendees.
  • Black Team – Our stage team work on live stages, operating production equipment and helping the stage shows to run throughout the event.
  • Grey Team – As the front line in customer service, the grey team is responsible for checking attendees in both to the event and the campsite.
  • Orange Team – The orange Team work closely with our logistics staff to build and break the event. The orange Team do carry out physically demanding work and are the central hub for all logistics at Insomnia. Steel toe cap boots are mandatory for this team and are not provided.

Indie Zone

The Insomnia Gaming Festival's Indie Zone offers independent developers the chance to show case their game to thousands of attendees over each of our events.

We offer a brandable space in our dedicated zone, along with a PC, monitor and peripherals, all for free. All we ask in return is that you bring your game in a playable state for our attendees to enjoy and give you valuable feedback. Many Indie Developers come back time and time again because of the quality of interaction and feedback our attendees offer.

Please note that the Insomnia Indie Zone is not able to accept games with 18+ content. Any game with 16+ rated content will be approved on a case by case basis per event.

If this interests you, then please fill in our application form. You will be contacted 2 months before the event with whether your application has been accepted.
